Flower crown workshops

I love running workshops here at Bloomery, they’re really good fun and a great way to pick up a new skill (you never know when wiring a flower might come in handy!). These lovely ladies were with me at the weekend creating flower crowns for Sarah’s hen party, everyone started with the same vase of flowers (Roses, Carnations, Chrysanthemums, Astilbe, Sedum, Eucalyptus, Viburnum berries and Skimmia) but just look at how different and unique each of their designs were. It was a lovely relaxing afternoon and a chance for everyone to catch up over a cuppa (or glass of fizz) and piece of chocolate (or lemon drizzle) cake. None of these ladies had made a flower crown before, some even surprised themselves at how great their crowns looked.

The flowers I choose for the workshop are ones that last for a reasonable length of time out of water, so the crowns can be enjoyed for as long as possible and we love to see photos of where the crowns get to when they leave the studio. I also ensure there are enough varieties of flowers and foliage to work with to enable each person to create something unique, if you look at the photograph you can see not everyone used the pink roses and this gave the crowns a different look.

Any workshop starts with a full demonstration of how to create your flower crown from taping the base wire to wiring different types of flower and then finally how to construct your crown and attach the ribbons. During the workshop I’m on hand to offer advice and help with any reminders of how to wire that troublesome Chrysanthemum!

As Bloomery is located near Broadway in the Cotswolds it’s a great location for get-togethers as we’re less than two hours from London on the train, just over an hour from Birmingham in the car and less than an hour from Birmingham Airport is anyone if coming from further away.I love running workshops here at Bloomery, they’re really good fun and a great way to pick up a new skill (you never know when wiring a flower might come in handy!).
